What are EACs?

Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) are renewable energy certificates that provide proof of the renewable origin of electricity. EACs verify and track attributes of certain amount of electricity that has been generated from renewable sources, such as solar, wind, hydro, biomass or geothermal power.

Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) are used in United Stated and Canada in order to track and claim the renewable energy and include essential information about that unit of electricity, including the date, technology, and place of production. In the United States, RECs are used for voluntary and compliance purposes.

The International REC Standard Foundation (I-REC Standard) is a non-profit organization that provides a robust standard for developing attribute tracking systems. This global standard is a recognized tool to report greenhouse gas emissions reduction in more than 55 countries mainly in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
